The Okumidori Matcha is a first harvest, ceremonial matcha that comes to us from Uji, perhaps the most famous area for tea cultivation in Japan. For hundreds of years, Uji was known for producing the best matcha powder in Japan, and that reputation still carries on to this day. This tea has been shaded for 20 days to create a rich savory flavor, and because its from the Okumidori cultivar, it has a smoother, more well-rounded flavor with less bitterness. The tea has a tiny but of astringency towards the end, but it is well-balanced by the thick and rich mouthfeel.

Meet the Farmer and farm that produces the  Okumidori Matcha

This tea comes to us from the farmer Takada Masahiro in Uji. His company Chanoka dates back to 1900 when his great grandfather started their first tea garden in Uji and since then they have dedicated their lives to growing and producing some of the best teas in Japan.

This matcha comes to us from the farm of Chanoka in Uji. This tea is grown at an altitude of 400 meters and it is shaded for 20 days to develop the sweet and savory flavor.

How to Prepare the  Okumidori Matcha

Add 2 grams of matcha to a bowl and then pour in 100-150ml of 160-175F water. You can then scrape off the sides of the bowl and begin whisking with you matcha whisk

The Okumidori Matcha is Always Pesticide Free

We make sure to only source teas from reputable farmers that grow tea without the use of conventional pesticides or chemicals. We meet with the farmers in person and tour the fields and facilities.
