Collection: Gyokuro
Gyokuro is considered to be one of the highest quality Japanese teas, rivaled only by matcha. It is shaded for 3 weeks prior to the harvest, in order to build up the l-theanine, caffeine and chlorophyll in the tea plant. The theanine not only gives Gyokuro a smooth and sweet flavor, but it is also responsible for the calming effect you get when you drink a green tea. Our Gyokuro tea is grown by Mr. Sakamoto in Shibushi, who produces his own natural fertilizer to keep the plants strong and healthy without the use of chemicals or pesticides.
