Chasen Matcha Whisk

Even though the bamboo tea whisk has been used in Japan for centuries, there is still no better tool to prepare beautiful foamy bowls of matcha. Each bristle moves through the water adding air to the bowl of tea, giving it a smoother and creamier flavor. A properly whisked high quality matcha can have a sweet and creamy flavor, almost like a latte but without the use of milk or sugar.

Yame Gokou Matcha 50g

This ceremonial matcha comes from the Gokou cultivar. This tea has been shaded for 3 weeks prior to the harvest, which cuts down on the bitterness and produces a smoother and more well-rounded flavor. The Gokou is considered to be a premium cultivar of matcha, known for its nice full-bodied and umami flavor. If you like these bold savory flavors of matcha, this is the best option for you to try. Compared to the Washimine, this tea is fresher and stronger in taste. The flavor is powerful and straight to the point, but it finishes with a round creaminess in the end and a slight floral note.

Chawan Matcha Bowl

The Chawan is the best tool for whisking up that perfect bowl of matcha. Crafted from clay, with a beautiful floral pattern on it, the higher sides of this bowl make it easier to whisk up your matcha without spilling it. If you preheat the clay bowl, it will also help keep your tea warmer for longer.

This tea comes to us from the Oshi family in Yame. Originally, the company was founded by Kenji Oishi in 1940, but now is managed by Mr. Goji Oishi. The tea farmers and tea masters of Oishi are building up quite a strong reputation in the area, winning first prizes at the World Green Tea Fair in 2008, 2012 and in 2018. The company is committed to not only ensuring the quality of their tea, but also maintaining the health of their environment.

About the Farm

This matcha comes to us from Yame, in the prefecture of Fukuoka. This area is most famous for its production of Gyokuro, a long-shaded leaf tea, but there are also many great sencha and matcha teas being produced here. The tea farmers at Oishichaen have been growing tea on these fields since 1940, and they have won numerous awards over the years.

How to Brew it

Add 2 grams of matcha to a bowl and then pour in 100-150ml of 160-175F water. You can then scrape off the sides of the bowl and begin whisking with you matcha whisk

Very Popular as a Gift

Our fans like to give away our teas on birthdays, weddings and other special days! Our samplers are highly recommended as gifts!

Always Pesticide Free

We make sure to only source teas from reputable farmers that grow tea without the use of conventional pesticides or chemicals. We meet with the farmers in person and tour the fields and facilities. We look at the sustainability of the field, the attention to detail and quality control of the facility and of course the taste of the tea.
