Chawan Matcha Bowl

Crafted from clay, with a beautiful floral pattern on it, the higher sides of this bowl make it easier to whisk up your matcha without spilling it. If you preheat the clay bowl, it will also help keep your tea warmer for longer.
40g Matcha Seisui
This ceremonial matcha is from the Yabukita cultivar, the most widely grown cultivar in Japan. The tea has a very strong vegetal flavor and a smooth creamy note of butternut. Unlike the Washimine, this tea has a tiny bit of astringency, but far less when compared with a standard matcha. This Matcha is of supreme quality, evident in its strong green color.
40g Matcha Washimine
The matcha made by Mr. Nakai comes from the cultivar Okumidori. This superior cultivar is reserved for high-grade Gyokuro, Sencha and matcha. The excellence of this matcha comes from its very round and complete taste with a balance of creaminess, a full body and a fine silky note of fresh spinach and a hint of asparagus. The resulting tea produces a very well-rounded taste with no bitterness. Because of its supreme quality, this matcha is also used for koicha, a thick paste made from only the highest grade matcha.

Meet the Farmer
This tea comes to us from Mr. Nakai in Wazuka. Mr. Nakai is a talented young farmer that specializes in sencha, but he also produces some excellent matcha as well. His father is credited with creating the JAS logo, which is pictured on every pack of green tea that has been certified by Japanese Agricultural Standards.
About the Farm
This farm is located in Wazuka, right outside the old capital of Kyoto. This region is famous for the production of matcha tea. Powdered tea was the original way to consume matcha in Japan, and the first tea plants to be cultivated in Japan were grown right outside Kyoto at Kozanji temple in the Toganoo mountains.
How to Brew it
Add 2 grams of matcha to a bowl and then pour in 100-150ml of 160-175F water. You can then scrape off the sides of the bowl and begin whisking with you matcha whisk
