Begin your journey into roasted tea with the Roasted Tea Bundle. This gives you the opportunity to compare three very different roasted teas, and see which flavors you like best. Do you prefer the creamy, coffee flavors of the Kawabataen Hojicha, the buttery cashew nuts of the Kamairicha, or more of the roasted cereal notes of the Genmaicha from Hagiricha?

Issin Kamairicha 100g

While most Japanese green teas are steamed, this tea is actually turned in a hot pan, similar to a Chinese green tea. As a result, the flavor picks up a little bit of this roasted caramel or nuttiness. The tea is quite dense and creamy, making it a perfect tea for the wintertime. You get this slightly roasted flavor, but nowhere near as intense as a hojicha. If you normally prefer Chinese teas but want to venture into the exciting world of Japanese green tea, this is the best choice for you. If you are looking for something slightly different from the grassy sencha teas, this is also a good way to add a little variety to your tea collection.

Steeping: 165 degrees Fahrenheit 74 degrees Celsius for 1-1.5 minutes

Hagiricha Genmaicha 170g

The Genmaicha from Hagiricha is made from a very fine Bancha tea mixed with toasted rice to add a roasted cereal note to the gentle sweetness of the tea leaves. Genmaicha is the most popular variety of blended tea in Japan, and is becoming increasingly popular worldwide. What originated as a way to make green tea last longer has become a widely popular tea in its own right. People who like nice roasted or cereal flavors will really appreciate this tea. There is a nice balance between the green tea and the toasted rice, so neither flavor completely takes over. This is the perfect tea to enjoy on a brisk morning, and may remind you of a nice warm bowl of hot cereal.

Steeping: 170 degrees Fahrenheit 76 degrees Celsius for 1-1.5 minutes

Hojicha Kawabataen 100g

Compared to the Noike Hojicha, this tea has more of a cereal flavor to it, with a bit of a smoky aftertaste. The tea starts to go into the direction of toasted rice with a hint of wet wood.

Steeping: 165 degrees Fahrenheit 74 degrees Celsius for 1-1.5 minutes

Can be brewed up to 4-5 times for 20 seconds each

This bundle contains 370 grams of loose leaf tea, some of which is mixed with toasted brown rice
