The Marufuku matcha is a beautiful ceremonial grade blend of two premium matcha cultivars, Saemidori and Okumidori. This is perhaps our most polarizing matcha, meaning some people like it, and others do not like it. There is some strong earthy characteristics of this tea, and it finishes off with a thicker mouthfeel. Both the Saemidori and Okumidori matcha have become very popular, so we wanted to find a matcha that combined both cultivars into a well-balanced matcha that is both sweet and creamy. Because it is a mountain tea, it picks up a fresh and slightly more astringent flavor, making it a quite complex matcha.

Meet the Farmer
This tea comes to us from the Farmers at Marufuku in Shizuoka. The founder of the company, Mr. Bunji Ito, is passing along the family business to his daughter and she manages the facility from their office in Shizuoka.
About the Farm
The leaves for this matcha was grown in the South of Japan. The tea is made from both the Saemidori and Okumidori cultivars, two tea plant species that prefer the warmer climate. The leaves are then processed in Shizuoka. We got the opportunity to tour this facility in April of 2019 to see how the tea was made and the great attention to detail they take to ensure the quality of this tea.
How to Brew it
Add 2 grams of matcha to a bowl and then pour in 100-150ml of 160-175F water. You can then scrape off the sides of the bowl and begin whisking with you matcha whisk
Very Popular as a Gift
Our fans like to give away our teas on birthdays, weddings and other special days! Our samplers are highly recommended as gifts!
Always Pesticide Free
We make sure to only source teas from reputable farmers that grow tea without the use of conventional pesticides or chemicals. We meet with the farmers in person and tour the fields and facilities. We look at the sustainability of the field, the attention to detail and quality control of the facility and of course the taste of the tea.
