2021 Nuruki Shincha 100g

The 2021 Shincha harvest has finally arrived! This tea comes from the South of Japan on the island of Kyushu. Shincha is one of the most prized teas in Japan because it is made from the very top leaves of the tea plant and it is the first tea to be harvested. This makes the tea not only of exceptionally high quality, but also it is the first tea available from each harvest. As a result, people in Japan wait all year to try this very special tea. The Shincha from Nuruki is incredibly sweet and smooth. The liquor is a beautiful jade green color and it is quite dense with a thick mouthfeel. This tea transforms into a light sweet corn note in the second and third brewing, and it really is a light, sweet and enjoyable tea for both beginners and tea masters alike.

Shizuku Sencha 100g

This is a very unique sencha made by combining sencha leaves with matcha powder. This tea was designed to be the perfect cold brew, but it can be brewed warm as well. The matcha powder adds new dimension to the tea, giving it a fully body and extra power as a cold brew. The matcha powder also creates a beautiful jade green cloudy infusion in the first steeping. This tea has a powerful vegetal note to it, with some sweetness and a slight astringency in the aftertaste. The Shizuku is perhaps our best cold brew yet!

Nohana Sencha 100g

The Nohana is a beautifully balanced sencha made from a blend of many cultivars, including the Yabukita, Yutaka Midori and Asatsuyu. The Yutaka Midori and Asatsuyu cultivars are the varieties used in the Murasaki and Asatsuyu sencha respectively, and they bring a lot of character and sweetness to the teas. This tea picks up a powerful, bold green flavor with some fruitiness and complex vegetable notes. By blending all these tea cultivars together, they are able to take the best aspects of each and create a complex, but well balanced flavor.

Meet the Farmer

This tea comes to us from the farmer Mr. Nuruki, a talented young farmer in Chiran. Mr. Nuruki operates a small farm in southern Japan where he is able to cultivate a wide range of tea plant varieties. He has been successful in blending these different tea varieties together to create a number of fantastic tea blends. These tea blends incorporate the best aspects of each tea variety, to create flavors that are well balanced and unique.

About the Farm

This tea is grown in the small town of Chiran in the southernmost tip of Kyushu. This region greatly benefits from the mild subtropical climate and the volcanic activity, creating nutrient rich soils and mild winters. Because this area is so warm, it allows for the growth of more delicate tea plant varieties, producing lighter and sweeter green teas.

How to Brew it

Add 5 grams of leaves to the teapot or strainer and then pour in 150ml to 200ml of water (140 degrees Fahrenheit) and let the tea brew for 1 minute. You can brew the leaves 2-3 more times with the same temperature for 20 seconds each

Very Popular as a Gift

Our fans like to give away our teas on birthdays, weddings and other special days! Our samplers are highly recommended as gifts!

Always Pesticide Free

We make sure to only source teas from reputable farmers that grow tea without the use of conventional pesticides or chemicals. We meet with the farmers in person and tour the fields and facilities. We look at the sustainability of the field, the attention to detail and quality control of the facility and of course the taste of the tea.
