Hojicha is a roasted Japanese green tea with some very unique notes to it. While most Japanese green teas have a little bit of this edamame and sweet corn flavors, Hojicha plays more off of these roasted chocolate and caramel flavors. During the roasting process, the tea also loses some of its caffeine so Hojicha can be drunk in the late afternoon or evening.
Compared to the Noike Hojicha, this tea has more of a cereal flavor to it, with a bit of a smoky aftertaste. The tea starts to go into the direction of toasted rice with a hint of wet wood.
