This tea comes to us from the island of Yakushima, a beautiful subtropical island off the coast of Kagoshima. Here, the foggy weather and warm climate produces teas that are truly unique. Straight away, you will notice the sweetness of this tea, followed by a nice summer freshness. The taste then evolves to give way to a beautiful hazelnut finish.
The second steeping is actually sweeter than the first steeping in this tea, although it does lose some of its savory umami flavor. This tea retains a lot of flavor in the second brewing, and it also does very well as a cold brew.
Temperature: 122 degrees Fahrenheit/ 50 degrees Celsius
